BILA HAUT Cotes du Roussillon from Chapoutier $14.99. A blend of grenache, syrah and carignan. This shows the terroir of the Midi with black cherry and earth. Dijon mustard covered rack of lamb.

ARGIANO ROSSO 2007 $24.99. Currants, raspberry and meat in the nose and spicy dried fruit and full bodied chewy tannins. Cabernet sauvignon, merlot, syrah and sangiovese from Tuscany. Pasta with a meat ragout..

ALBEMARLE SIMPLE RED 2005 $13.99. Bordeaux blend from Virginia. Elegance, finesse and complexity. Beef, duck and bacon.

VILLA CORDEVIGO 2004 $41.99 from Verona. Matured in cherry wood barrels and the cherry and wild berry comes through on the taste. Steak with rosemary and roasted potatoes.

MALBEC is a great winter red as well as warmer weather bbq wine. They come in all prices and fun to try some in each one and see how the complexity grows. On the value end is ALTOS 2009 $9.99, pure fruit, combines well with asado (assorted Argentina beef slowly grilled on a wood fire). CLOS DES ANDES 2005 $21.99 produced by a Bordeaux based winemaker and aged in French oak. ZUCCARDI 2006 $22.99 - just a few of the many new ones arriving daily.

Also from Argentina, BEN MARACO EXPRESIVO 2006 $34.99. An old vine blend of merlot, cabernet, syrah, petit, verdot and tennat. Unfined and unfiltered with deep color, great fruit flavor and ripe tannins. Duck tortillas.

LAURUS GIGONDAS 2006 $29.99. Hand harvested. Intense, complex nose of blackberry, fresh earth and wood toast with a spicy finish. Full flavored cassoulet.

PALAZZO 2006 $64.99. Napa Valley cabernet franc from an artisanal operation. "......beautiful cedar, herbs, raspberry, black current and toasty oak...ethereal sense of airiness....velvety...seductive".

OVEJA 2008 $12.99 A blend of cabernet franc and carmenere from Chile. Blackberries, light spice, soft tannins. This is your pot roast wine, veal with bacon or steak with sauteed veggies.

CHATEAU DE FRANCS 2005 $19.99. Merlot, cabernet franc and cabernet sauvignon. Medium bodied, blackberry and blueberry, fleshy and concentrated. Long finish. Roast lamb.

DIEZ-CABALLERO RIOJA $39.99 2001. Sixty year old vines. Bright, intense with hints of cacao, chocolate, fresh tobacco and spicy overtones. Liver, sausage, lamb and tapas.

SOLARIA ROSSO DI MONTALCINO 2004 $24.99. Plum, cedar and leather aromas with a full bodied palate of ripe fruit. Rosso is made from the brunello grapes just not aged long enough to qualify as a Brunello and sometimes referred to as a baby Brunello. Wild boar or game birds.

CAMPACCIO 2005 $34.99. A super Tuscan that is ample, intense, elegant with berry fruit and chocolate with roasted almonds on the palate. Rich and complex. Fettucini with braised duck.

OTTIMINO ZINFINITY LITTLE 8 2006 $17.99. Blackberry syrup, plum, black cherry tinged with caramel and hints of vanilla and smoke. Smooth tannins. Barbecued spare ribs.

BIALE BLACK CHICKEN 2007 $39.99. In the old days, customers phoned Biale on a party line to order eggs and produce. The code name for a bottle of zin from the hidden barrels was "black chicken". Venison with a berry sauce.

HERMAN'S STORY NUTS & BOLTS SYRAH 2007 $39.99. The scent and silky texture of fine milk chocolate opens to smoky beach barbecue with ripe cherries and beef and finishes with dark chocolate, expresso and pineapple upside down cake. Only 500 cases made.

WHITES AND ROSES'

MOHUA SAUVIGNON BLANC 2009 $14.99. Classic Marlborough fruit, fresh, aromas of passion fruit and guava, tropical fruit and gooseberry. The "yellowhead" - the colorful bird on the label is endangered and only found in the pristine forest of New Zealand. Sales of this wine go to protect the enviornment and thus this bird.

Easy drinking and unusual 2009 OVEJA NEGRA (black sheep) $12.99 from Chile which is a blend of sauvignon blanc and carmenere and even though the blend is of red and white grapes this has absolutely not even a tinge of color because the juice was taken off the skins immediately. Citrus, tropical aromas with subtle mineral. Perfect end of the day to relax glass.

JEAN PABIOT POUILLY FUME 2007 $24.99. Complex and refreshing with aromas of grass, gooseberry and flint. Compliment to seafood and goat cheese.

BOURGOGNE CUVEE SAINT VINCENT 2007 $20.99. Wonderful in our Burgundy class recently. A fresh lobster with drawn butter will showcase this to perfection.

CAKEBREAD SAUVIGNON BLANC 2007 $34.99. Bright grapefruit, kiwi and mineral aromas, intense citrus zest and a flinty finish. Grilled scallops with a sweet pepper relish.

RUSTENBERG CHARDONNAY 2008 $22.99. South African--apricot and orange peel aromas with flavors of almond and marzipan. Grilled marinated quail with onion and fennel stuffing.

JERMANN VINNAE RIBOLLA 2007 $24.99. The ribolla is a grape indigenous to Friuli. Fresh and lively citrus rind, peach pit and light mineral. Jermann is one of Italy's top producers of outstanding wines. Seafood paella risotto.

DOMAINE WEINBACH PINOT BLANC 2007 $24.99. Fresh, elegant, well balanced, bright fruit, crisp finish. Quiche, hors d'oeuvres as well as a great aperitif.

AUGUST KESSELER 2008 $15.99. Silvaner and riesling blend. Chicken in a sweet and sour sauce, grilled ham and cheese, onion tart.

ELLA VALLEY SAUVIGNON BLANC 2007 $22.99. A bright and lively wine with pear, passion fruit and grapefruit in the forefront and floral, anis and sage in the background. Kosher.

FELSINIA I SISTRI 2007 $22.99. Chardonnay from Tuscany aged in neutral French oak barrels. Tropical fruit, spices and flowers. Refined and elegant. Saffron rice cakes with fontina and asiago cheese risotto.

BRUNO CLAIR MARSANNAY ROSE' 2008 $26.99. Deep rose' color. Dry. Bright, strawberries peaches, cherry cola and orange peel. Tuna teriyaki.

GUIGAL CONDRIEU 2007 $49.99 ".... powerful, elegant, white flowers, apricots, white peaches, fresh, round, rich, full bodied and expressive of the terrior...great finesse...". Foie gras, scrambled eggs and truffles or delicate fish.

BUBBLY

GASTON CHIQUET $54.99 is a lovely grower Champagne that is 45% pinot meunier, 35% chardonnay and 20% pinot noir.

CANARD-DUCHENE BLANC DE NOIR CHARLES VII $49.99. Big, heavy, mature and impressive is this 74% pinot noir and 27% pinot meunier blend.

GEORGES GARDET 375ml $26.99 is an elegant blend of 45% each of pinot noir and pinot meunier and 10% chardonnay.

CHATEAU GARDET $54.99 is aged in foudres for one to two years and has 40% chardonnay in the blend.

BASELY at $29.99 is a wondeful value from Champagne.

Also in stock are many cavas, proseccos, roses'----. Bubbles do pair wonderfully with lots of foods - salmon and cream cheese, lobster, scallops, escargot, caviar as well as being elegant on their own.

BEER

SHIPYARD EXPORT ALE --Maine's Shipyard Brewing Company's flagship beer. A full bodied ale with hints of sweetness, distinctive hop taste and a very clean and traditional finish. The beer begs for clam chowder.

LEFEBVRE HOPUS - Big, bold, hoppy slap to the palate up front, then fades softly to a slightly sweet finish. Definitely an ale for the hop-head in you.

DESSERT

MUSCAT DE BEAUMES DE VENISE $29.99/375ml. Unique, perfect alone, with blue cheese or any apple based desserts.
